Why is under-canopy lighting necessary?
The lower part of the canopy is dark and increasing the light in that area greatly increases the efficiency of shaded leaves.

It also gives more utility to the otherwise underdeveloped flowers under the canopy. Since the upper part of the foliage will already be
well developed by sunlight or top lighting, additional photons under the canopy may be more productive than additional photons
above the canopy.

Enormous increases in productivity have been found by adding about 200-500 µmol-m²-s-¹ below the canopy. Although these levels are lower
than those above the canopy, they make sufficient use of an otherwise unused area.

Implementing under-canopy lighting with the UNDER CANOPY ORTOLED 120W lamp in your cultivation can be like doubling the cultivation area; there was already a canopy area
above, and with the under-canopy lights, the same canopy area can now be productive below.
